Add a whole shelf from one photo with Spines

Adding records one at a time is slow, especially with a big collection. Spines turns a picture of a shelf into a batch you go through, and what you confirm becomes regular records on your Shelf.

How do I scan a shelf?

  1. Add tab > Cover, the camera mode.
  2. Flip the switch from Cover to Spines. Get close, about half a shelf per photo, and take the picture.
  3. Gatefold reads that photo while you take the next one. Every spine goes into your batch as a ? with its best guess at the album.
  4. Tap That's mine to take the guess, or Pick to choose another pressing. Nothing lands on your shelf until you do.
  5. Tap Done and you'll see what landed.

What does it skip?

  • Records you already own. Two copies side by side count as two.
  • Spines it can't read or match come first under What's in, each with a picture of that spine and a Shoot cover button, so you can add that one from its front.

How does the batch work?

Anything you add one after another on the Add tab collects in the tray at the bottom, and Done confirms the lot. Changed your mind? You can take the whole batch back off within 24 hours. A record added without its exact pressing waits in Pick pressings, which is optional.

How many shelf photos do I get?

  • Free accounts get 5 shelf photos in total.
  • MOSH users get 20 a day.

The photos are sent off the device to read the spines.
