Scan a barcode
A barcode points to one pressing, so it's the most exact way in. Point the camera and the record is on your shelf.
How do I scan a barcode?
Add tab > Scan. Point the camera at the barcode on a CD, a cassette or a record sleeve. On a phone the Add tab opens on Scan. On a computer it opens on Type.
What happens when it finds one match?
If the barcode matches exactly one pressing in Gatefold's own catalogue, the record goes straight onto your shelf. The next screen has an Undo in case it got it wrong.
What if more than one pressing comes up?
Some barcodes got reused across pressings. Then you get a picker with the pressings that differ in country, year, format and label, and you tap yours. Add most popular shows up on top only when one is a clear winner.
A single hit that came from a sticker or matrix string, or from the live Discogs lookup, also goes to the picker. It isn't added on its own.
What if it finds nothing?
Add tab > Type and enter the number by hand, or tap Can't find it? Manual add. Both are in the Type guide.
