Record Store Mode: curated record store tours

Gatefold has record store crawls in five cities, over 170 shops picked by hand. Pick a city and how much time you've got, and it plans the stops, checks the hours, and tells you what's worth digging for.

How do I start a tour?

  1. Kebab (3 dots) > Driving.
  2. Tap Record Store Circuit. It's marked Beta.
  3. Pick your city.
  4. How much time you got? Pick the shape of the day, or Custom to tick 2 to 8 shops and let it put them in order.

Driving Mode runs in the iPhone and Android apps. If the app closes mid-crawl, Resume your crawl picks it up. On a computer, browse the same tours at Record Store Tour, which also has Find stores near me.

Are there record store tours in Paris?

Yes, Paris, on foot and by Métro, no car: Latin Quarter Dig, The 11e Crawl, Montmartre & the Goutte d'Or, Les Puces (the flea market at Saint-Ouen) and Marais & Les Halles.

How do the legs work?

  • In the US every leg is a drive. Navigate hands it to your maps app.
  • In Paris the legs are walks, with Walk there, plus one Métro ride on Montmartre & the Goutte d'Or, with a Métro button. A tour with mixed legs shows a summary like 4 walk · 1 Métro before you start.
  • Apple Maps and Google Maps open walking or transit directions. Waze can't do either, so a walk or Métro leg opens your phone's own maps app instead.

What do I see at each shop?

  • The shop's name and whether it's open.
  • How it fits your shelf: a genre match, some of what you like, or off your shelf.
  • The address, travel time, hours notes, and roughly how long to dig.
  • An Insider note. Once you've arrived it turns into You're in — here's the move.
  • I'm here, Skip, and Next stop or Finish circuit. A closed shop tells you to skip it or come back another day.
  • On the way out, Bag anything? Buying nothing is the first choice.

Is it free?

Yes. Record store tours are free on every account.

Can I check if I already own a record in the shop?

Scan it: Add tab > Scan, or Cover for a sleeve with no barcode. A record you own says Yours. The rest is in How Gatefold stops you adding a record twice.
