On a music holiday
Gatefold keeps a calendar of music holidays, about forty a year. On the day, your Spin page is about the day, and it's built from records you already own. It's free.
What changes on the day?
- The Spin page opens on a tab named for the day, like HENDRIX DAY.
- The pick is a record from your shelf with a tie to the day, and a line saying what the tie is. If nothing on your shelf fits well, the card says so.
- Under it, shelves of your own records for the day. On Hendrix Day they're Voodoo Chile and Purple Haze. Metal Day sorts your metal into six shelves, from the first records that sounded like metal to the ones made since 2000.
- On a few holidays, like German Unity Day, there's also a crate of records to play or buy when your shelf is short on the day.
- The day is your local day, not UTC.
How the pick and the shelves work: Music holidays and your Spin of the Day.
Do I get anything for it?
A badge. Open Gatefold on the day, or spin a record, and it lands on your Profile the next morning. CD Player Day wants a CD spin. Holiday badges.
When's the next one?
- Metal Day: Wed Nov 11
- Hendrix Day: Fri Nov 27
- Christmas: Fri Dec 25
- New Year's Eve: Thu Dec 31
The whole year is on the Music Holidays page, with today's marked Active.
