Insurance report for your record collection
If your records are insured, or should be, the insurance report puts a replacement price on every physical record you own and gives you a PDF and a spreadsheet to send your insurer. It's marked Experimental / Work in Progress.
Who gets it?
MOSH accounts. On a free account the panel doesn't show.
Where do I find it?
Collection Stats > Stats for Nerds > Insured value (VG+ basis) > Insurance report.
How do I get a report?
- Tap Prepare my insurance report.
- Gatefold looks up a fresh Discogs price for every record you own. That runs at night, between 07:00 and 11:00 UTC, and the panel shows the window in your own time.
- Ask inside that window and it starts straight away. Otherwise it says it's queued and when pricing starts.
- Big collections can take a few hours. If notifications are on, you get Your insurance report is ready.
How is each record valued?
At the higher of two prices: the lowest anyone is asking on Discogs right now, in any condition, and its Discogs VG+ price from past sales.
No price at all? It gets a labelled estimate from the middle of at least 3 comparable sales. If there's nothing to go on, it's left out of the total and shows as a dash in the PDF, and the panel tells you how many records couldn't be priced this time.
Which records are covered?
Physical ones: vinyl, CD and cassette. Streaming albums are left out, and so is a record whose pressing you haven't picked yet. Pick the pressing to insure it. Everything left out is listed, with the reason, on the spreadsheet's Not Insured sheet.
What do I download?
- A PDF: Generate insurance valuation →.
- Spreadsheet (XLSX) with three sheets: Inventory, Not Insured and Resources.
- Both carry the date the prices are from, and you can download them any time with the prices you have.
How often can I re-price?
Once every 3 months, counted from when the last report was ready. The panel says when the next one is available. A run that didn't finish doesn't count, so you can start it again.
