On vacation: digging in a new city
New city, shops you've never heard of, and your shelf is a thousand miles away. Here's how to dig without bringing home a second copy.
Is there a crawl for this city?
There are hand-picked crawls for Kansas City and Lawrence, St. Louis, Denver and Boulder, Portland and Vancouver WA, and Paris, over 170 shops in all. Paris is on foot and by Métro, no car. Start one from Kebab (3 dots) > Driving > Record Store Circuit, or browse them on a computer at Record Store Tour, which also has Find stores near me.

Every stop shows whether the shop is open, how it fits your shelf, and an Insider note. Detail: Record Store Mode.
How do I bring my shelf with me?
- On Wi-Fi before you fly: Kebab (3 dots) > Settings > Offline Mode, tap Sync Now, and turn on Store all covers on this device.
- Roaming or no data, the app still opens on your saved shelf, with search and the format tabs.
- Scan a record's barcode in the shop. One you own says Found on your shelf (offline).
How do I check a record before I buy it?
Same as at home: scan the barcode, snap the cover, or type the catalog number. The full routine is in At the record store.
Headed to Denver? Who's playing while you're there?
Concerts follows the places you've saved, not wherever your phone happens to be. So before the trip, add the city:
- Kebab (3 dots) > Settings > Concert Alert Locations.
- Under Secondary, type the city (the box suggests "e.g. Denver") or a zip code, and tap Save. If more than one place matches, pick yours.
- Open Concerts. The Shows near switch now has All and a button for each city. Pick Denver to see only the shows there by artists you own or want.
Concert Alerts then cover both cities, and MOSH adds the presale heads-up. A second city is a MOSH feature; free accounts get one location. Remove it from the same panel when you're home.
